New customized warehouse in Dusseldorf

When Eurowings and Lufthansa Technik combined their building infrastructures at Dusseldorf Airport (DUS), the previous warehouse was no longer available. So for reasons of space, LTLS found a new warehouse and set it up in record time.

Thanks to LTLS' great expertise in designing and implementing warehouse concepts  (, the search for an available warehouse building outside the airport's security-restricted area was no obstacle to the company's warehouse specialists, and the new warehouse is now located around two kilometers away.

The project got underway in October 2015 and the new warehouse was virtually ready for occupancy just six months later. The facility not only contains the most modern technology, such as LED lighting, its complete layout was designed in-house by the experts at LTLS.

In the process, it was a particular challenge to meet the requirements of the German Federal Aviation Office (LBA) and the Dusseldorf Airport for the establishment of a warehouse outside the airport's security-restricted area. Among the individual measures are barred windows and a shuttle service that uses specially equipped, sealed vehicles.

Modern supply technology can be found inside the Eurowings/Lufthansa Technik hangar, too, where a new building for a central tool crib in the middle of the hangar has been build. Two new fast moving storage lifts at height of ten meters have been docked with its opening directly to the tool crib which ensures short distances for the logistic staff as well as the technicians.

With its consulting service, the LTLS team of logistics experts develops individual concepts based on proven and standardized procedures and processes, including facility layout, personnel and equipment planning.
